Masters Project | Character Experimentation

Another aspect of my Masters project. I wanted to challenge myself building a non-human character. I explored many different methods of concepting the character, as you can see by the line art to the side, I experimented to understand which method would best suit me going forward. I found that starting with a sketchy base and layering on detail proved to give me the best results. I wasn't sure at first what Gwens relation to the main character was going to be, so I started to explore her family in detail and where she might have come from. As part of the Narrative I was creating, I wanted to put emphasis on the how the character might be affected by the environment she lives in, and how she might influenced her environment. I came up with a number of ideas, both sketchy and full colour. I will be posting more about the narrative in the future.
